Try This: Name It and Leave
In your next meeting, try this simple two-step boundary:
1. Set the Target
Name the actual objective out loud right at the start:
"What is the objective, what do you need from this meeting?"
2. Exit on Contact
The exact moment that goal is met, end the meeting—or excuse yourself if you aren't running it. Skip the elaborate excuses and apologies. A simple statement is all it takes:
"I think we've covered what I needed here—I'll jump off so you can continue."
The Challenge: Try this for just one week. Notice how much focus and time you win back the moment you stop staying out of pure politeness.
